Eden Valley Ceilidh Band

The Band and Callers

The Band and Callers' Biographies
The band started playing in December 2008 and uses any of 4 main musicians and 2 callers.

Sue

Sue, on fiddle, is a founder member of Eden Valley Ceilidh Band and loves playing both high energy jigs and reels and beautiful, lyrical ballads.  She is a classically trained violinist and plays regularly with Lakeland Sinfonia and other ensembles.  Sue plays a beautiful Bridge electric violin.

Rob

Rob is a professional musician and guitar teacher in Cumbria. He principally plays guitar with the band, with the option of a wide range of other instruments. Folk music is just one of Rob's specialisms.
Stuart is the band’s bass player and most experienced folk dance musician. A former member of the popular Cumbrian band ‘Jump at the Sun,’ Stuart has many years of experience playing at ceilidhs and dances in and around the Lake District.

Jim

Jim is also a founder band member and plays accordion and keyboard. He took up playing Celtic music after a summer student vacation job on the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides. Jim is also a classical pianist, accompanist and organist and regularly plays for church services around the Eden Valley.
Brought up in rural Aberdeenshire, where the music is ceilidh music, Douglas has one job with the Band – encouraging and allowing everyone who wants to join in the fun to do so, regardless of whether they believe they can dance or not.
Chris
With over 30 years of experience calling at Ceilidhs, Chris is one of the North’s most experienced and accomplished callers. Chris always leads the evening in a relaxed and informal manner, where everyone can feel comfortable and join in.
